Prior to meeting and starting my fitness journey with Shane, I had been a member at a couple of chain 24/7 gyms. I would rock up to the place, wander around for an hour, watch the clock, worry about the others in the gym and check my phone more than I would move. I found Shane at a time of big change in my life. I had been through a really tough year and decided something needed to change. I was drawn to the warm and welcoming nature that Shane brings to his classes and clients from the first day. Time and time again, Shane creates a space in which I feel like I can ask anything. There really are no silly questions. The routine nature of his classes and sessions make showing up one of the easiest parts because there are no wild surprises. For someone who struggles with anxiety to varying degrees, this consistency creates such a safe space to be yourself. As a neurodivergent adult, I also appreciate Shane’s simple, no frills approach to nutrition and exercise. What you see is what you get with Shane and what you get is a compassionate fitness professional with a passion for training everyone, not just the elite. Since starting PT sessions with Shane I have built visible muscle and have started to view exercise habits as something I can sustain even in his absence. For years I felt i was not designed to move or experience success from exercise. All of those beliefs are well and truly a thing of the past and I have Shane to thank for that. I feel so grateful to have him walking beside me on my journey.

To say Shane is incredible is an understatement. In just four weeks he has already helped me make incredible progress, both physically and mentally. Food has always felt like such a difficult topic for me, but Shane makes it feel safe to share my thoughts and feelings towards food with no judgement. Shane’s dietician knowledge has allowed us to find ways to
“upgrade” some of my favourite meals to have better nutritional value whilst still tasting amazing and never asks me to give up food, instead we work together to find a compromise. In the gym, l’ve also wanted to lift heavy weights but haven’t had the confidence to increase weight on my own. Shane helps me track all my workouts so I know exactly what I’m capable of and we talk about ways that I can replicate this on my own whilst keeping myself safe. Shane is beyond supportive in and out of the gym, something I truly value and makes a real difference knowing I can shoot him a message to clarify information I’ve seen online and check in with him between sessions. Shane always celebrates all my victories with a passion, there is never a doubt that he has my back in this journey 100%. Before I started going to the gym, I was nervous because I didn’t really know what I was doing or where to start. Shane made the process really easy for me and his friendly demeanour made me feel comfortable right from the first session. He coached me through everything and helped me to build skills to get me to the point where I now feel comfortable going to the gym by myself and feel fitter than I have in years. You can tell that Shane is passionate about what he does and genuinely cares for all of his clients and wants to see them succeed. I first met Shane just over a year ago, when my wife signed me up to some PT sessions to get active and get myself out of a rut in life. From the go, it was very easy to see Shane’s good nature. His knowledge and understanding of strength and conditioning was delivered in a way that was calm, and easily relatable. My goal was to improve my strength and overall fitness as well as incorporate mobility as a key element to continue to improve. Through Shane’s genuine level of care, I quickly saw and felt changes in my body, that made me want to continue not only for my own benefit, but also continue under his guidance. As now a regular at his 6am classes, Shane continues to challenge me, and the other participants, to get the best out of ourselves, and offer advice over and above that of the average fitness instructor. A great guy, as other attendees to his sessions would agree, Shane Barker is a standout.

I am an older woman with some physical limitations yet Shane treats me as an individual and helps me to adapt rather than insisting I try and do the same as younger people. He is always positive and genuinely eager to help me with exercise, nutrition and motivation. Over the years I have tried various trainers, classes and gyms but Shane is

I started training with Shane in April 2023 for personal training sessions being recommended to me by one of his clients who had stated that he was great and had helped them reach their goals. I had trained in group sessions with Shane and had always noted that the structure of his classes really suited me. It was obvious to me that he had a good understanding of the body and how it worked.
 
When I started training with Shane I was able to ask many questions which was really helpful for me as I have a history of dieting and weight loss, weight gain and poor self-esteem, this all seemed to impact on how to face the next goals I wanted to achieve.

I wanted to lose body fat and become strong and in training with Shane this has definitely happened. I have lost 11.3 kilos since starting in April and I am so much stronger. It is also important to note that I have some medical conditions where I had a stroke in 2021 due to a condition called hypertrophic obstruction of the cardiomyopathy. Shane took this into consideration and listened to any challenges that would arise for me.    

For me what was different about working with Shane is his understanding, ability and knowledge around getting the best results from people. Shane has helped me physically and more importantly he has helped me accept different challenges personally and emotionally.  Shane has a way of reflecting back to you your behaviour to help you understand and to assist you with your journey.  
 
I know I am more confident than I have ever been and Shane most definitely assisted with this. I appreciate that Shane made me feel like a valued client and did not judge me as I had been in the past.

Shane was able to help me reframe my perspectives about achieving my goals. I really thought I could not achieve some goals and I had a reason why, Shane respectfully helped me to understand that my goals were possible. In the past I had struggled to get enough protein in my diet and I am meeting my protein goals consistently now

I do not say this lightly, Shane would be the best trainer I have had and he is a mentor. I would recommend Shane to anyone as he definitely has the knowledge and skills to help you succeed. 
 
Shane also shares his own fitness journey and this is helpful as it assists people to understand that we all have to work hard at this journey and it’s difficult for everyone at times. It is also really awesome when you build habits that last and you have a healthier future physically and mentally.
